One of the craziest plays Sunday happened in the third quarter when Andrew Whitworth and Jaguars defensive tackle John Henderson were ejected from the game.

“We had gotten in a tussle after a run play and he came up and took a shot at the back of my head," Whitworth recapped. "Levi (Jones) was screaming at the refs for a flag. And when he stood up, he pushed me again in my facemask, and the ref still didn’t throw anything. So on the next play, he wanted me, I wanted him, and he kind of ‘swam’ me. I just pushed him past the quarterback and he fell to the ground, but he held onto my facemask and ripped my helmet off.”

Henderson got Whitworth in a headlock, while trying gouge out Whitworth's eyes. “He was digging in my face pretty good. I was trying to get his hands out of my face in case he ripped my eyeballs out.”

Marvin Lewis didn't endorse trying to save one's eyes from being "ripped out". “The hard thing there, and the thing that you have to do as a professional player, is walk away. There is no retaliation on an NFL football field. You have to walk away. Let him get the penalty, let him get kicked out of the game."

In our view, it's ridiculous that Whitworth was ejected, clearly defending himself from turd-like antics of Henderson. Because the refs have to keep some control of the game together, and since typically retaliation is always a sure-fire towards escalation, we can understand the personal foul.

Furthermore, we think that Marvin Lewis is dead wrong condemning Whitworth's actions, who was clearly defending himself. Whitworth felt he had no choice. “In that situation, I don’t know what else you can do as a player if a guy’s got his fingers digging in your face. It’s either, OK, I’m going to get fined or in trouble or this guy’s potentially going to ruin my career. So I had to defend myself there,”

The New York Times: ''A Cuban tae kwon do athlete and his coach were barred for life after the athlete kicked a referee in the face following his disqualification in his bronze medal match.

The Cuban coach, Leudis González, offered no apology for the actions of the athlete, Ángel Matos, during the men's over-80 kilogram (176 pounds) match.

Matos was winning, 3-2, in the second round, when he fell to the mat after being hit by his opponent, Kazakhstan's Arman Chilmanov. He remained there, awaiting medical attention, when he was disqualified for taking too much injury time. Fighters get one minute, and Matos was disqualified when his time ran out.

Matos angrily questioned the call, pushed a judge, then pushed and kicked the referee, Chakir Chelbat of Sweden. Matos then spat on the floor and was escorted out.

"He was too strict," González said, referring to the decision to disqualify Matos. Afterward, he charged that the match was fixed, accusing the Kazakhs of offering him money.

"This is a strong violation of the spirit of tae kwon do and the Olympic Games," the World Taekwondo Federation said in a release. It added that there would be a lifetime ban of González and Matos in all championships sanctioned by the organization and that all Matos's records at the Beijing Games would be erased.

In his first match, Matos defeated Italy's Leonardo Basile, then beat China's Liu Xiaobo, 2-1, in the quarterfinals. But he lost to the South Korean Cha Dong-min in the semifinals to land in the bronze medal match.

"To me it was obvious he was unable to continue," Chilmanov said. "His toe on his left foot was broken."

Matos won the gold medal in this division at the 2000 Sydney Games, dedicating the victory to his mother, who died on the day of the opening ceremony. At the 2004 Athens Games, he finished 11th.''

Usain Bolt of Jamaica produced a stunning performance to win the men's 100 metres Olympic title on Saturday in a new world record time of 9.69 seconds.

The 21-year-old beat home Richard Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago (9.89secs) while Walter Dix of the United States was third in a time of 9.91 secs.

"I felt the world record earlier on," said Bolt, the first Jamaican to win the title.

"I came here just to win and I did just that. I didn't even know I'd broken the world record until I did my victory lap.

"Now I'm just concentrating on my two races coming up. I came here prepared and I'm going to try and do it the (100 and 200m double)."

Dr Herb Elliott, Jamaican team chief doctor, immediately moved to scotch suggestions that the youngster was doped.

"I don't care about the rumours. He's been tested over and over again," said Elliott.

Bolt's compatriot, and former world record holder, Asafa Powell came fifth as six of the eight finalists finished under 10 seconds, a record for the Olympic final, which also equalled the 1991 world final in Tokyo when six men also dipped under the 10 second barrier.

Powell, who again failed on the big stage, paid handsome tribute to his compatriot who could well go on and add the 200m title later in the Games.

"He is the best ever sprinter and I've said that before," said the 25-year-old.

"He has run 9.69 and got the gold so he is definitely the greatest. It was a spectacular performance and he was definitely the best here. He could have run faster if he had run straight through the line."

Powell admitted he had run out of steam.

"I was feeling good but I didn't feel it in my legs. They died on me."

Bolt, who bettered compatriot Don Quarrie's silver medal from the 1976 Olympics when he ironically finished second to a Trinidadian in Hasely Crawford, was headed by Thompson for the first part of the race but there was no contest once he got into his stride and went clear away from the field.

So commanding was his lead he eased up well before the line and held out his hands in celebration.

Behind him Thompson showed the same impressive form the 23-year-old had displayed during the earlier heats to hold on to second and was left in awe of the winner.

"It feels good to be here, to be part of history," said Thompson.

"It was good to finish behind him (Bolt) because there's no way anyone on earth could have beaten him tonight.

"To finish second to him that is a great accomplishment in itself. Usain is a great athlete. It was jsut a matter of time before he proved himself on this stage."

Dix, also an Olympic debutant, came on strong in the final metres to overhaul Powell, who lost out on fourth place to surprise package Churandy Martina of the Dutch Antilles.

Both Dix and Martina admitted that Bolt was just in another world.

"That was the greatest race ever," beamed 22-year-old Dix, who will take on Bolt again in the 200m.

"I can't be more satisfied with third place. He (Bolt) broke the world record, you can't ask for more."

Martina, who showed championship credentials with fifth and seventh in the 100 and 200m at last year's world championships, said Bolt could take the time down even further.

"Everyone could see what he did, he didn't even push through the line. Its an amazing time," said the 24-year-old.

World champion Tyson Gay, out of action for just over a month after suffering a hamstring injury before the Olympics, exited in the semi-finals earlier on Saturday, when he finished fifth.
