One of the craziest plays Sunday happened in the third quarter when Andrew Whitworth and Jaguars defensive tackle John Henderson were ejected from the game.

“We had gotten in a tussle after a run play and he came up and took a shot at the back of my head," Whitworth recapped. "Levi (Jones) was screaming at the refs for a flag. And when he stood up, he pushed me again in my facemask, and the ref still didn’t throw anything. So on the next play, he wanted me, I wanted him, and he kind of ‘swam’ me. I just pushed him past the quarterback and he fell to the ground, but he held onto my facemask and ripped my helmet off.”

Henderson got Whitworth in a headlock, while trying gouge out Whitworth's eyes. “He was digging in my face pretty good. I was trying to get his hands out of my face in case he ripped my eyeballs out.”

Marvin Lewis didn't endorse trying to save one's eyes from being "ripped out". “The hard thing there, and the thing that you have to do as a professional player, is walk away. There is no retaliation on an NFL football field. You have to walk away. Let him get the penalty, let him get kicked out of the game."

In our view, it's ridiculous that Whitworth was ejected, clearly defending himself from turd-like antics of Henderson. Because the refs have to keep some control of the game together, and since typically retaliation is always a sure-fire towards escalation, we can understand the personal foul.

Furthermore, we think that Marvin Lewis is dead wrong condemning Whitworth's actions, who was clearly defending himself. Whitworth felt he had no choice. “In that situation, I don’t know what else you can do as a player if a guy’s got his fingers digging in your face. It’s either, OK, I’m going to get fined or in trouble or this guy’s potentially going to ruin my career. So I had to defend myself there,”

Formally ending an Olympics that was as much mystery as majesty, the host nation unfolded its arms, threw back its head, and howled.

There were silly flying drummers, a human tambourine composed of thousands of shimmying women, and chugging unicyclists rolling giant glowing circles.

There were guns shooting confetti into the stands, gymnasts bouncing on stilts, and Power Ranger look-alikes soaring up and down on ropes just for the heck of it.

In the closing ceremony Sunday, after two weeks of an Olympics that was run as sternly as the thousands of soldiers who guarded it, the Chinese finally let that guard down.

They allowed athletes to break human barriers and run around the National Stadium screaming and waving what appeared to be bottles of booze.

They allowed David Beckham to kick a soccer ball into a crowd.

And, oh my, they even allowed Jackie Chan to sing.

"Through these Games, the world learned more about China, and China learned more about the world," said Jacques Rogge, International Olympic Committee president, in his closing address.

Those giant booms that filled the National Stadium throughout the night were not only fireworks, but Rogge's sighs of relief.

England have drawn 2-2 against the Czech Republic in a friendly international at Wembley.

Joe Cole's scrambled goal rescued John Terry's side from defeat after they twice fell behind.

Milan Baros put the visitors in front in the first half, before Wes Brown's leveller.

England looked to be heading for defeat when Marek Jankulovski curled a free-kick beyond David James.

But Cole salvaged a 2-2 draw in the dying second, forcing the ball over the line in a packed six-yard box.

The evening proved eventful on and off the field with news emerging during the game that Brian Barwick, the chief executive of the Football Association, would be leaving his job at the end of the year.

Elsewhere, Wales lost 2-1 against Georgia in a friendly international in Swansea and it was goal-less at Hampden Park between Scotland and Northern Ireland after the Republic of Ireland earlier drew 1-1 with Norway.

In Swansea, the Georgians wore black armbands and linked hands - held aloft - when their anthem was played. Flags were waved from a small group of supporters who had made their way to Swansea for what was understandably an emotional occasion.

Wales took the lead after 16 minutes when Jason Koumas cracked in a vicious 25-yard shot that goalkeeper Giorgi Loria half-stopped, only to allow the ball to bounce out of his grasp and over the line.

But Georgia's desire for victory, given the nature of their war-torn country, was greater than Wales', and they equalised through Levan Kenia and then grabbed an injury-time winner through substitute Beka Gotsiridze.

At Hampden Park, it was clear right from the outset there would be nothing friendly about the international when God Save the Queen was jeered by the home crowd ahead of kick-off.

And George Burley was left still seeking his first win as Scotland coach heading into next month's World Cup qualifiers.

But at least Scotland goalkeeper Allan McGregor had saved his blushes by denying Northern Ireland striker David Healy from the penalty spot.

McGregor had been at fault, bringing down Warren Feeney to concede the spot-kick. The visitors had been reduced to ten men after Ryan McGivern's sending off for two yellow cards.

The home side dominated from then on until the final whistle but to no avail.

Usain Bolt of Jamaica produced a stunning performance to win the men's 100 metres Olympic title on Saturday in a new world record time of 9.69 seconds.

The 21-year-old beat home Richard Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago (9.89secs) while Walter Dix of the United States was third in a time of 9.91 secs.

"I felt the world record earlier on," said Bolt, the first Jamaican to win the title.

"I came here just to win and I did just that. I didn't even know I'd broken the world record until I did my victory lap.

"Now I'm just concentrating on my two races coming up. I came here prepared and I'm going to try and do it the (100 and 200m double)."

Dr Herb Elliott, Jamaican team chief doctor, immediately moved to scotch suggestions that the youngster was doped.

"I don't care about the rumours. He's been tested over and over again," said Elliott.

Bolt's compatriot, and former world record holder, Asafa Powell came fifth as six of the eight finalists finished under 10 seconds, a record for the Olympic final, which also equalled the 1991 world final in Tokyo when six men also dipped under the 10 second barrier.

Powell, who again failed on the big stage, paid handsome tribute to his compatriot who could well go on and add the 200m title later in the Games.

"He is the best ever sprinter and I've said that before," said the 25-year-old.

"He has run 9.69 and got the gold so he is definitely the greatest. They died on me."

Bolt, who bettered compatriot Don Quarrie's silver medal from the 1976 Olympics when he ironically finished second to a Trinidadian in Hasely Crawford, was headed by Thompson for the first part of the race but there was no contest once he got into his stride and went clear away from the field.

So commanding was his lead he eased up well before the line and held out his hands in celebration.

Behind him Thompson showed the same impressive form the 23-year-old had displayed during the earlier heats to hold on to second and was left in awe of the winner.

"It feels good to be here, to be part of history," said Thompson.

"It was good to finish behind him (Bolt) because there's no way anyone on earth could have beaten him tonight.

"To finish second to him that is a great accomplishment in itself. Its an amazing time," said the 24-year-old.

World champion Tyson Gay, out of action for just over a month after suffering a hamstring injury before the Olympics, exited in the semi-finals earlier on Saturday, when he finished fifth.

Analysis:
Emelianenko unloaded with punches and hurt Sylvia immediately, then put him down to the mat. Almost immediately, he got Sylvia’s back and choked him out. This may prove to be one of the pivotal moments in North American MMA history. Whether Emelianenko has or hasn’t been able to draw in the past, this performance against a two-time UFC heavyweight champion solidifies his standing as the best heavyweight in the sport. Most important, this show set up Josh Barnett and Andrei Arlovski to go along with Randy Couture as challengers for Emelianenko, in matches which would be far bigger than this. After the match, they brought Randy Couture into the ring and teased the idea of it being the next big match, and Emelianenko talked about wanting the fight himself. The fight is dependent on a favorable court ruling for Couture in a contract dispute with UFC.

HUGE THROW at the Big 10 Indoor Track and Field Championship in the Women's Shot Put. The Big 10 Network's Mel Proctor and Kevin Sullivan handle the analysis and Suzy Favor Hamilton does the post race interview. Admittedly, the video is not very good for technique analysis. Camera is either too far in some shots or far too close in others to get an overall view of the technique.

In the summer of 2006, while the football world's attention was focused on Germany, thousands of players around the globe were training hard and competing to be part of the World Cup...The Homeless World Cup. It began in 2001 as a wild idea by a Scot and an Austrian—to give homeless people a chance to change their lives through an international street soccer competition. Five years later, the annual Homeless World Cup had become an internationally recognized sports competition. 500 homeless players from 48 nations would ultimately be selected to represent their country in Cape Town, South Africa—coming from such disparate parts of the world as war torn Afghanistan, the slums of Kenya, the drug rehab clinics of Dublin, Ireland, the streets of Charlotte, North Carolina, the overflowing public shelters of Madrid, Spain, and the unforgiving city of St. Petersburg, Russia, where the homeless have no rights or identity. Win or lose, for these players it would be the journey of a lifetime. The film follows seven players in their own tough worlds as they confront the daily challenges of life on the streets, battle drug and alcohol addiction, and fight for the right to be recognized as human beings. We witness their struggles, hopes, and determination. The teams are greeted by the South African President, as they make their spirited entrance in to two newly built street soccer pitches, located at the precise spot where Nelson Mandela was released from prison—with the glorious Table Mountain as the backdrop. Nobel Peace Laureate Desmond Tutu joins the players, declaring homelessness the new apartheid. For 7 days of fiercely competitive matches, the teams vie for the championship cups. Despite the fact that they may not have a home, the players wear the colors of their country with pride. From shattering misconceptions about the homeless to seeing people living at the edge of society discover that they also can be winners, the film shows in a real and powerful way that sports can and does change lives. As the Russian coach observes, To me, football is the best model for real life. There is no last game in football and there is no last game in real life. You always have another chance to win.
